BMW XM: With 750 HP, the most powerful production BMW ever!
So far, BMW's subsidiary has only presented its first official teaser for the upcoming XM on the BMW-M social media channels, which is set to be sold starting in 2023. The Concept Car is expected to be displayed at Art Basel in Miami in early December and is primarily intended for the USA, Russia, the Arab region, and China. This is because it offers rather unsustainable superlatives, which are now questionable for Europe, and which BMW grandly describes as the "most expressive statement in almost 50 years of BMW M."
According to initial rumors, the XM is expected to deliver around 550 kW / 750 HP, with the classic V8 biturbo receiving electric support. The XM is said to accelerate to 100 km/h in just over three seconds, likely break the 300 km/h mark, and offers a preview of future production models with its massive kidney grille and narrow headlight slits. It remains to be seen whether the kidney grille illumination will be retained on the production vehicle, as this would not be allowed in all markets worldwide. In Europe, a solution similar to the retrofittable M Performance Front Grille "Iconic Glow," which is available for the X6 as well as the 3 Series and 5 Series, would probably have to be used. The prices of the most powerful BMW ever are expected to start at around 150,000 euros.
Additionally, the XM is expected to preview the new front design of the BMW luxury class. This means that in addition to the changed lights, which will move to the bumper in the next 7 Series G70 similar to the Hyundai Kona or Citroën C4 Cactus, future BMWs could also become more angular again.
What does that mean?
It's difficult: A monster SUV as the most powerful BMW with a Citroën model designation – sustainability was demonstrated quite differently with the I-Circular – and somewhere, it feels like BMW is throwing itself behind a train with this V8 monster, a train that is slowly but surely departs for the never-never land even for US dinosaurs like Dodge – crazy, but not a good idea.
