In Berlin, the Ladeport Awards were presented on Thursday evening. The award for the expansion of electromobility based on private and societal initiatives went this year to thirteen representatives of the tourism industry, who have particularly resisted bureaucratic or infrastructural hurdles in setting up charging stations, as praised by the organizers. The award is an honor from the Berlin-Brandenburg Electric Association, which has been supported by the Federal Association for eMobility (BEM) from the beginning and was awarded for the fourth time this year. From April to August, users and enthusiasts of eMobility were able to submit nationwide examples for the Ladeport Award. 18,000 visitors to the website were interested in the submissions.

The prize honors the various efforts to build electromobility and to open the user base. Special attention is given to the adversities in the fight against bureaucratic hurdles and other resistances. Also honored is the high degree of determination, initiative, and exemplary character of the individual actors.

“With our Ladepark Award this year, we honor the commitment to the development of tourism-related charging infrastructure because we believe that this is where the conviction of broad sections of the population for electromobility is created. No one buys an eCar if they can't drive it to a relaxing holiday," explained Michael Tobias, Chairman of Berlin-Brandenburg Electric e.V.

Markus Emmert, BEM Board Member and Head of Working Groups, sees every single charging point as important for the transformation. By 2030, Germany will need 18 million charging points.

"Sustainable travel and sustainable holidays are therefore not just a vision, but even a driver for reform, individually, case-by-case, and with enthusiasm for the cause – we need them all," said Emmert.

A jury from five professional associations finally made the selection and chose the following awardees:

    • StrandGut Resort GmbH & Co. KG, St. Peter-Ording
    • HOTEL DAS KRANZBACH GmbH, Krün / Klais, Bavaria
    • City of Dresden, Dresden Marketing GmbH, Dresden
    • FLECKEN STEYERBERG, Municipality of Steyerberg
    • E-RAST AUREL LIPHARDT, Helsa-Wickenrode
      • At the e-Rast rest area in Helsa-Wickenrode, near Kassel, there is a solar charging station that also offers office workspaces. An adapted timber-framed house in the vicinity of a restaurant and hiking trails provides the possibility to combine charging eCars and eBikes with meaningful activities, such as a meeting in the seminar room with internet and conference facilities. The idea originated from Aurel Liphardt, who implemented the overall concept on a private initiative.
    • Hotel & Ferienpension ELISABETH, Usedom
    • STEIGENBERGER GRANDHOTEL & SPA, Heringsdorf / Usedom
    • HOTEL DÖLLNSEE GmbH & Co. KG, Templin
    • CAMPING- & FERIENPARK WULFENER HALS, Fehmarn
      • With the expansion of 6 AC and even 2 DC charging stations, the operator of the Camping- & Ferienpark Wulfener Hals has doubled the public charging infrastructure on the holiday island of Fehmarn at a stroke. Purely through private economic initiative, power lines were laid and charging stations were installed in front of the campsite, allowing the entire island to benefit from the alternative fueling option at one of the most beautiful inland surfing spots in northern Germany.
    • TESLA SUPERCHARGER NETWORK, Munich
    • BAYERISCHE FERNWEGE e.V., Bavaria
      • The association of Bayerische Fernwege has made a significant contribution to the electrification of Germany's oldest holiday route – the German Alpine Road. From a voluntary initiative, the association developed a concept to examine the route according to the needs of electric vehicles and then equip it in cooperation with partners. The commitment stems from the strong enthusiasm for the interaction of tourism and environmental protection, which radiates from the holiday route throughout the entire region.
