Baden-Württemberg: Siemens manages public charging points
The Parkraumgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg mbH (PBW) will operate the public charging infrastructure in the future with the E-Car Operation Center (E-Car OC) software from Siemens Smart Infrastructure, as the company announced. The aim of the collaboration is to make the charging options for public spaces "flexible and future-proof".
Gradual Conversion
According to Siemens, initially 200 of 500 charging points from various providers will be converted to the E-Car OC system, with the remaining charging points to be continuously converted. The software enables the control of the condition of the charging station and the management of performance and billing data from charging stations, regardless of the manufacturer.
"With the software, our customer PBW can now manage different charging infrastructures and billing systems in their parking garages with one software. We are thereby helping to make public charging for electric car owners easier and more convenient," said Ute Redecker, Head of Digital Grid Germany at Siemens Smart Infrastructure.
EnBW is Involved
PBW manages public parking spaces at, among other places, clinics, authorities, colleges, and universities. At 90 of these locations, there are around 500 charging points. With the new software, it should also be possible to pay with different payment systems. As the charging infrastructure expands, a charging solution from EnBW subsidiary ChargeHere will also be integrated. According to Siemens, this is specially suited for the electrification of larger parking spaces and simplifies centralized control.
