The manufacturer of electric delivery vans, B-ON GmbH, filed for insolvency at the Aachen District Court last Friday. Dr. Dirk Wegener, attorney and partner at dhpg, has been appointed as the preliminary insolvency administrator. According to the announcement, 78 employees of B-ON GmbH and approximately 170 employees of the Düren Neapco plant, which produces the Sherpa (formerly StreetScooter WORK) for B-ON GmbH, are affected by the insolvency.

Payment Difficulties

Supply bottlenecks for components led to a decline in production and subsequently to payment difficulties.

"The goal remains to establish B-ON as the leading provider of e-mobility solutions in Europe," explained Jörg Hofmann, Managing Director of B-ON.

Dirk Wegener, the provisional insolvency administrator, adds: "Production should be resumed shortly. For this purpose, we have already had initial discussions with customers and suppliers, which will be intensified in the coming days."

B-ON produces fully electric, light commercial vehicles. The company already has numerous vehicles on the market and offers electric fleet management. Outside of Germany, the parent company has branches in the USA, the UK, Japan, China, and Latin America.
