Automobili Pininfarina appoints Paolo Dellachà as CEO
Passing of the baton at Automobili Pininfarina: Paolo Dellachà takes over - the previous CEO is leaving the company after the successful market launch of the Battista, the first purely electrically powered GT luxury supercar. Production of the most powerful Italian sports car of all time began in the summer of 2022.
Dellachà is a very experienced engineer and previously held leadership positions at Ferrari and Maserati before joining Automobili Pininfarina in 2018. There, he supported the management team responsible for launching the vehicle at the new Italian automobile manufacturer. He explains:
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to lead Automobili Pininfarina into the next phase of its development. As a proud Italian, the traditional company Pininfarina has always been an inspiration to me. The Battista was named in honor of the founder of this renowned brand. It was a true privilege to accompany such a highly talented technical team in the successful development of the vehicle.”
He also has further plans for new models:
“Now, we are taking the opportunity to sustainably strengthen Automobili Pininfarina's position as one of the leading brands in the electrified luxury automobile segment. Pininfarina is known as a leading design brand. Combined with our extensive technical expertise, which we have further honed in the realization of the Battista, we will be able to develop beautiful and exciting electric vehicles in the future.”
In his previous role as Chief Product and Engineering Officer, Paolo led the development and production of the purely electrically powered GT supercar 'Battista' in Italy. Additionally, he played a leading role in formulating the company’s strategy for the future implementation of a portfolio of electric luxury vehicles.
Gurpratap Boparai, CEO of Automotive Businesses, Europe at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd added:
“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Paolo Dellachà as CEO of Automobili Pininfarina. Paolo led the technical development of the groundbreaking Battista from the concept phase to delivery. The Battista is already an award-winning luxury vehicle that is breaking all records worldwide. I look forward to seeing how the team, under Paolo Dellachà’s leadership, will realize the immense potential that has been dormant in the company since its founding.”
In that context, he also thanked his predecessor:
"I thank Per Svantesson for the way he has guided the team at Automobili Pininfarina through the ecological and economic challenges the world has faced in recent years. The Battista is a design masterpiece and offers breathtaking performance that enthralls its proud owners around the world. This success is a testament to Per's excellent work and his good management of a brilliant team."
What does that mean?
With Paolo Dellachà taking over the board position at Automobili Pininfarina, an engineer follows who brings experience from his previous jobs and the necessary networking in Italy. This is important if more electric vehicles are to follow the Battista.
