VW's subsidiary Audi has announced the start of production for electric motors for the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) in Győr, Hungary. The manufacturer describes it as a new chapter in drive production. The newly developed E-machines will initially be used in the Q6 e-tron series. With the PPE model, production of the first fully electric model at the headquarters in Ingolstadt is set to begin at the end of the year. For this purpose, the company has established its own battery assembly in Ingolstadt, among other things. Audi Hungaria produces stators and transmission components on 15,000 square meters in a completely newly equipped production area in Győr and assembles the axles for the PPE there. Product testing also takes place in Győr.

"The start of production in Győr marks an important milestone in the ramp-up of production for the Audi Q6 e-tron," explains Audi's Board Member for Production, Gerd Walker.

In addition to the electric motors for the PPE, Győr also builds the drives for the Q8 e-tron. Furthermore, an additional production area is currently being set up for the electric machines for vehicles based on the MEBeco (MEBeco = Modular Electric Drive Toolkit) from the Volkswagen Group.

To be able to produce the electric machines for the PPE, three new lines were installed. The production line for stators has 28, the gear production has 15 work steps. Just for the axle assembly, 190 individual assembly steps are required. Around 700 employees are involved in the production. In series production, Győr builds up to 2,000 electric motors per day in three-shift operation for the PPE. Production is carried out for Audi and Porsche. Compared to the previous electric machine assembly, the depth of production has been increased once again.
