Audi presents electric supercar at Pebble Beach
The annual event held in and around the Californian coastal town of Monterey in August has established itself as the world's most important forum for lovers of automotive treasures. The interest is no longer only in historical vehicles, but also in forward-looking design studies and technology visions.
After many premium manufacturers have used the event for sensational studies, Audi is now planning the same: The abbreviation - Audi PB18 e-tron - refers to the presentation location Pebble Beach and the debut year. It also recalls the LeMans series winner Audi R18 e-tron, whose technology provided inspiration for various detailed solutions. The design of the Audi PB 18 e-tron was created at the new Audi Design branch in Malibu, California.
The Audi PB18 e-tron will be unveiled on August 23, 2018, at 5 PM at the Laguna Seca racetrack. The study will then be shown on August 24 from 8 AM to 4 PM at the legendary vehicle presentation "The Quail." On August 25, Audi will present the study again in Laguna Seca (8:30 AM - 6 PM). And on Sunday, August 26, the concept vehicle will finally be seen at the Concours d'Elegance in Pebble Beach. Parallel to the show car world premiere, Audi will also showcase a comprehensive range of historic automobiles and performance vehicles in Pebble Beach.
What does this mean?
Pebble Beach is becoming increasingly important for automakers to test public taste with expensive and sometimes very futuristic studies, which Audi is now doing with the PB18 e-tron.
