From 2026, Audi intends to introduce only purely electrically powered models and apparently plans a next step in design towards more elegance including subtly emphasized "Quattro muscles." Design chief Marc Lichte and brand chief Henrik Wenders present three concept vehicles on the LinkedIn portal: Grand Sphere, Sky Sphere, and Urban Sphere are still covered and only show silhouettes, but hint at the realignment of mobility. Partly with very classic proportions – Lichte has already announced this.

In this context, they also want to go one step further concerning digital comfort functions and autonomous driving. The proportions of the central model "Grand Sphere" evoke the Artemis Project or Landjet, from which an electric sedan as a successor to the A7/A8 could emerge. The basis is likely to be the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) developed with Porsche, into which the Artemis Project is currently being integrated. The Sky Sphere is a sports two-door with classic proportions, meaning: extremely long hood and short greenhouse, resembling classic GT touring cars. Here, Lichte has already indicated that it would not be necessary to give up these classic, powerful engine promising proportions just because of e-mobility. That it can still be done is proven by the Urban Sphere, which showcases a van-like SUV with maximum interior space utilization.

With this, Lichte lifts the veil a bit on the restructuring of Audi's future, which is likely to become purely electric faster than cautiously planned. According to brand chief Wenders, further insights into the future of the lineup could be revealed within the next 12 months. The development of "Artemis" into a concrete luxury liner will probably be showcased at the IAA.

What does this mean?

Audi is currently accelerating its pace significantly. And they are being open about new approaches, which, however, will likely shape the brand starting from 2025. Nevertheless, it is a clear and bold statement to the electric premium competition. This fire and momentum have recently been somewhat missing from the Ingolstadt-based company.
