More and more Germans who travel by car for vacation want to do so in an environmentally friendly manner: They are opting for vehicles with electric drive. More than half of all car owners believe that it is more eco-friendly to go on vacation with an electric car. Pioneers in this regard are those who already travel fully electric in their everyday lives. This is shown by the latest representative study conducted by Alphabet Fuhrparkmanagement - one of the globally leading business mobility providers and a subsidiary of the BMW Group - in collaboration with the market research institute Toluna: 82 percent of electric car owners in Germany have already traveled at least once on vacation with a fully electric car. Among all car drivers, more than half can at least imagine embarking on a trip with an electric car - so far, 22 percent have actually done so.

Long-Distance Challenge

However, there are still challenges: For longer distances of 500 km or more, only 17 percent of internal combustion engine owners would be willing to use a fully electric vehicle. This is significantly less than the 47 percent among owners of fully electric vehicles.

"The study results show a growing interest in the opportunities that switching to e-mobility offers. However, they also highlight that many car owners still see challenges regarding range. Here, consulting services can be useful. Therefore, we support our customers through our consulting solutions in the implementation of e-mobility in their fleets," says Andrea Mlitz, Head of Marketing and Business Development at Alphabet.

Mobility service providers like Alphabet support the sustainable orientation of corporate fleets and also offer individual consulting services for mobility managers and company car drivers.
