Alfa Romeo: The 33 Stradale leaves (no) choice - electric or combustion engine

Finally an offer for (very few) electric Alfa fans with the corresponding cash: You have the option to switch from the roaring V6 twin-turbo petrol engine to an electric drive with 750 HP, providing seamless acceleration and racetrack thrills. According to the new strategy, the exclusive vehicle is limited to 33 units.

Tradition and Modernity: The Stradale clearly references what Alfa calls the "most beautiful car in the world," the 67 Stradale. Today, in addition to the combustion engine, there is also an electric version with a range of 450 kilometers. | Photo: Alfa Romeo

Stellantis subsidiary Alfa Romeo is celebrating its own and the rebirth of the legendary 33 Stradale. The new two-seater coupe is to be crafted in a manual process according to the new company strategy in only 33 exclusive units and is meant to "combine the heritage and future of the brand as a symbol of noble Italian sportsmanship," as the Italians rave. The goal was to provide a driving experience akin to that of a race car, but in a model suitable for everyday use on the road, without compromising comfort and safety, even in daily use. The new 33 Stradale encompasses the best of what Alfa Romeo has to offer. This includes features such as a double-wishbone suspension with active dampers and the further development of the 2.9 V6 engine. The new Alfa Romeo special edition can be equipped with a V6 twin-turbo engine with over 620 HP, as well as - keyword future - with a BEV configuration boasting over 750 HP. Range of the electric model: Up to 450 kilometers according to WLTP. Both versions promise excellent performance. The top speed is naturally 333 km/h, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than three seconds.

The double-arm suspension with active shock absorbers and the front axle lift ensure handling and comfort. The Alfa Romeo Brake-By-Wire braking system and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes offer high performance. The aluminum H-frame and the carbon fiber monocoque guarantee rigidity and lightness. To ensure high rigidity and safety here as well, a roof structure made of carbon fiber and aluminum with retractable butterfly doors has been developed. The window frames are also made of carbon fiber, and the rear window is made of polycarbonate. The vehicle's tuning is supported by F1 driver Valtteri Bottas on the legendary Balocco racetrack to bring the F1 experience to everyday life and ensure the brand's distinctive handling.

The aerodynamic efficiency of the body is underscored by a Cw value of 0.375, but even more so by the fact that the new Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale produces no lift even at high speeds. The designers achieved this without active aerodynamic systems such as adjustable spoilers. The result is a purist line true to the motto of successful race car design: bellezza necessaria – beauty arises from function (literally: "necessary beauty").
