Alfa Romeo continues to grow in July 2023

In July 2023, according to statistics from the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), more than twice as many Alfa cars were registered in Germany compared to the same month of the previous year.

Alfa continues to grow: The increase in sales in Germany in July 2023 amounted to 107.9 percent compared to the same month last year. For the months of January to July, Alfa Romeo recorded a cumulative increase of 109.2 percent compared to the same period in 2022. This means that Alfa Romeo in Germany continues to perform significantly better than the overall passenger car market, for which the KBA shows an increase of 18.1 percent for the comparison month of July and 13.6 percent for the period from January to July.

The best-selling model of the Stellantis Group brand in July was once again the Alfa Romeo Tonale. The electrified compact SUV contributed to Alfa Romeo's success in the German market with a mix share of 36 percent. For this model, 127 percent more buyers opted for it in July of this year compared to the same month last year.

More astonishing, however, is the "return" of the Giulia, whose sales also grew massively, even though Alfa has again slightly reduced the program: Its registration figures increased by 139 percent compared to July 2022. For the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, the increase was still 60 percent - although it must also be taken into account that strong dealers are now increasingly stocking up with demonstration vehicles.

Niccolò Biagioli, Director Premium Brands Stellantis Germany, is pleased:

“I am very pleased with the ongoing upward trend – in all seven months of this year, we have seen increased registration numbers for Alfa Romeo in Germany. For the period from January to July 2023, our brand is significantly up with 109 percent and continues to develop notably better than the overall market. In July, we are once again among the brands registering the highest growth rates in Germany. I thank my entire team and all dealers for this success, who have made these positive numbers possible with their high level of commitment and great enthusiasm for Alfa Romeo.”

What does this mean?

Okay, Alfa Romeo was indeed pretty much at the bottom recently. However, with the Tonale and the refreshed Giulia and Stelvio models, it could have grown by, say, 15, 20, or 40 percent. Therefore, it is now important to seize the momentum and introduce new strong models every year. This is currently being planned.
