On digital display boards, the mobility monitors, passengers can quickly and easily identify their location on a map and get real-time information about all available transportation connections (excluding flights) for the first time.

The service is provided in German and English. Additionally, everything can be easily downloaded to one's own smartphone via QR code, without needing to install an app. The mobility monitors can be found at seven locations in Terminal 1, such as in the baggage claim areas, as well as near parking garage P51. More locations are to follow.

Information on Departures, Walking Routes, Taxis, and Rental Cars

In addition to the departure times of suburban trains and buses, the mobility monitors provide information about walking routes – including those to the taxi stand and rental cars – the availability of car-sharing offers, and the traffic situation on the surrounding
highways.

“Our new mobility monitors are the next step in connectivity. This way, we connect all travel options from the airport and provide an overview on one screen. The monitors answer frequently asked questions from travelers, especially arriving passengers, such as 'when is the next suburban train,' 'where is the bus stop,' or 'how do I get to the rental cars.' With the mobility monitors, we are consistently advancing the digitization of our services and elevating the travel experience of our passengers to the next level,” explains Maria Dahlhaus, Head of Commercial Activities at Munich Airport.

Digital Innovations at Munich Airport Now in Regular Operation Following Test Phase

The mobility monitors represent one of the current digital innovations at Munich Airport and have been in the test phase since September 2023, which has now been successfully completed. The project was realized in collaboration with the Munich software company Veomo Mobility GmbH, a specialist in multimodal mobility information:

"As a major international transportation hub with high passenger volumes and comprehensive mobility offerings, Munich Airport is an ideal partner for our digital mobility service. We are pleased that we were able to secure a big player from the region for the implementation of the mobility monitors," adds Dominik Nouri from Veomo.
