ADAC Truckservice: Electric commercial vehicles with their own breakdown hotline
Electric commercial vehicles present special challenges for roadside assistance. In addition to special caution, the ADAC Truckservice states that a professional risk assessment and accordingly qualified and equipped specialist personnel are necessary when dealing with electric vehicles. This is the only way to ensure that vehicles are repaired or towed to the nearest workshop in a proper and safe manner after a breakdown or accident.
Now, a specially developed certification is intended to ensure that workshops meet the requirements and adhere to uniform qualification standards. According to announcements, all 27 regional partners of the beacon partner network are to undergo this certification by March 31, 2023. Starting April 1, 2023, a nationwide breakdown hotline for electric commercial vehicles will be introduced. The roadside assistance service aims to be the absolute pioneer in the recovery of electric commercial vehicles in the future and to establish a gold standard of roadside assistance in this area as well, explains Dirk Fröhlich, Managing Director of ADAC Truckservice, outlining the objectives behind this initiative.
“In the future, we will not only offer our own highly qualified workshop network, but we will also provide competent assistance from the very first minute with trained specialists in our own service center,” Fröhlich continued.
The RAL quality inspection of the beacon partners includes an extensive training as well as a risk assessment. It is mandatory for all beacon workshops. The standards for the recovery of electric commercial vehicles in Germany are being developed by an expert group founded in 2022 by ADAC Truckservice together with RAL GGVU. The expert group consists of members of the beacon partner network, which ensures uniform service profiles and quality standards for roadside assistance and workshop services in every region of Germany at fixed rates. The expert group meets several times a year.
