ADAC recommends converting from halogen to LED: Safer, brighter, more durable

The automobile club ADAC has recommended that drivers upgrade traditional halogen headlights to approved LED lighting for the start of the winter season. These are now available for over 900 car, motorhome, and motorcycle models. Suitable LED lights are also available for fog lights and parking lights. So-called LED retrofits or LED replacement lamps provide more extended illumination and, with their whiter, daylight-like light, ensure better contrast perception. This is a noticeable safety advantage. In addition, they have a significantly longer lifespan than traditional halogen lamps, reducing the number of failures and lowering maintenance costs.
 

Affordable Retrofit

The bulbs are affordable at a cost of around 100 euros and can be installed by skilled amateurs themselves; in many cases, no additional adapters are required. However, after installation, a professional workshop should check the headlight alignment, as there is a risk of dazzling other road users due to the conversion or minimal tolerances in the bulb socket.
