ACM City One wins German Design Award

Adaptive City Mobility (ACM) has been awarded the German Design Award 2022 by the German Design Council. The electric vehicle City One, designed by Prof. Peter Naumann, was honored as a Winner in the category "Excellent Product Design - Conceptual Transportation." With its global reach and international appeal, the German Design Award is one of the most prestigious accolades in the design landscape across industries. ACM Managing Director Paul Leibold is delighted:

“The German Design Council has made the City One, and thus ACM, a Winner, and we are immensely pleased about that. Obviously, the experts from the German Design Council see the City One as a counterpoint to mainstream car design. We developed it specifically for the city and the unique needs of urban traffic. That's why it is lightweight and therefore particularly energy-efficient. Additionally, the CITY ONE is easy to repair and very inexpensive to maintain, yet as versatile as no other electric small car. Its design not only allows for the best space economy and thus maximum practicality, but it is also friendly and timeless.”

Interesting: A model of the production version is already parked in an underground garage in Munich, significantly enhancing safety once again (emergency brake assist, side airbags, etc.). This inevitably makes the City One broader, which, however, benefits its proportions! Especially since Naumann transferred the design of the planned production model 1:1 from the drivable prototype.

With its innovative, flexible, and cost-efficient concept, the City One is primarily intended for use in emerging markets that lack sufficient charging infrastructure. It can be charged via a household socket, making it entirely independent of fast-charging infrastructure. Its intelligent battery technology allows for around-the-clock use. After all, in addition to a permanently installed battery, the City One has four swap batteries that can be manually exchanged by one person in a matter of moments to extend the range.

An intelligent data platform furthermore enables its users to manage vehicles and energy supply in real-time, even across different user groups. This optimally supports the efficiency and profitability of fleet operators.

What does this mean?

It's a shame that ACM currently has to struggle for further financing. The concept is great and would not only find approval in emerging markets. The fact that the design has been awarded is justified: It offers more space inside than outside and is characterized by timelessness.
