Abarth 500e starts in two trims as a sedan and convertible

The pre-released limited Launch Edition variant Abarth 500e Scorpionissima was a great success. Now, the equipment variants Abarth 500e and Abarth 500e Turismo are being launched, each as a three-door hatchback limousine and as a convertible with an electric soft top.

Abarth announces the prices for the 500e series versions: The sedan starts at 37,990 euros (just under 31,925 euros net), the convertible at 40,990 euros (just under 34,446 euros net). The Turismo version costs 5,000 euros more (just under 4,202 euros net).

As the top model of the new series, the new Abarth 500e Turismo offers performance and loud Abarth sound, with a luxurious interior including Alcantara. The striking exterior design is highlighted by specific 18-inch lightweight alloy wheels with a diamond cut in titanium gray, which optimize driving behavior and embody traditional elegance. The sports seats with integrated headrests feature laser-etched Scorpion logos in poisonous green on the backrests. Double stitching ensures visual continuity from the seats to the door panels. The sports steering wheel and dashboard inserts are also covered with Alcantara.

Sound from the can – but an Abarth 500 doesn't go without it

The unmistakable sound of an Abarth accompanies every drive. Responsible for this is a unique sound generator, standard in the Abarth 500e Turismo. It creates a driving sound inspired by the gasoline engine of traditional Abarth models and the legendary "Record Monza" exhaust system. In addition, the new Abarth 500e Turismo comes with a range of comfort, technology, and safety features as standard, such as heated front seats, a wireless smartphone charging station, a rearview camera, and a blind-spot assistant.

Stronger than the combustion engines

Thanks to optimal weight distribution, the virtually on-demand torque of the electric drive, and the longer wheelbase, the new Abarth 500e is even more agile than the gasoline engine counterpart. In fact, the new Abarth 500e accelerates from 20 to 40 km/h a second faster. In this critical speed range for urban traffic, it is about 50 percent more powerful than a gasoline-powered Abarth. The new Abarth 500e accelerates from 40 to 60 km/h in just 1.5 seconds. Even in overtaking maneuvers, typically accelerating from 60 to 100 km/h, the new Abarth 500e outperforms a comparable gasoline engine by about one second. Moreover, the new Abarth 500e offers safe handling and superior driving dynamics, which is particularly noticeable at higher cornering speeds.

The 42-kWh battery should offer a range of up to 265 kilometers. At appropriate charging stations, the batteries of the new Abarth 500e can be charged with up to 85 kW of direct current. In less than five minutes, 40 km should be on board, and in 35 minutes, the battery should be able to charge from ten to 80 percent.

Three driving modes available

Both model versions of the new Abarth 500e offer three driving modes: Turismo, Scorpion Street, and Scorpion Track. In Turismo, the new Abarth 500e accelerates gently with lower power demand for a particularly efficient driving experience. The Scorpion Street mode offers peak performance with maximum use of energy recuperation during braking. In both modes, the Abarth 500e can be driven with just the accelerator pedal (One-Pedal-Driving). When releasing the pedal, the recuperation effect decelerates similarly to a mechanical brake. Every braking process supplies energy to recharge the battery. In Scorpion Track mode, One-Pedal-Driving is deactivated for the most intense driving experience possible.

What does that mean?

Abarth follows up: The 500e is now also available in the standard versions – which, however, the Italians charge well for. A comparable Fiat 500e costs significantly less – but is also noticeably quieter.
