In a challenging market environment, Solaris performed well in 2021. Although sales slightly declined with 1,492 units (2020: 1,558) and revenue also decreased slightly to 721 million euros (725 million euros). However, in the crucial segment of emission-free buses, the Polish bus manufacturer continued to lead significantly with 15.1% in Europe (excluding the UK and Ireland) ahead of Mercedes-Benz (11.7%), Iveco Bus (9.7%), and BYD (9.1%). Overall, it delivered around 610 electric, hydrogen, hybrid, and trolleybuses – including 346 electric and 54 hydrogen vehicles – to customers, accounting for 41% of total sales (2020: 44%).

Across all types of drives, Solaris remains the No. 4 bus maker in Europe with a share of 9.0%. Here, EvoBus (26.2%), MAN (22.6%), and Iveco Bus (9.9%) are in front. In the German market, the Polish company sold exactly 164 vehicles in 2021, corresponding to a market share of 3.9% and a decline of 5% compared to the previous year. In 2021, Solaris delivered its products to customers in 18 countries. The largest buyers included transport companies from Poland, Germany, Spain, Estonia, Italy, Romania, the Czech Republic, Israel, and Switzerland. For the 19th consecutive year, Solaris maintained its leading position in the Polish city bus market with a share of 63.7%. Overall, 119 Trollino 12 and 18 buses went to transport companies in Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Romania, Poland, and Hungary.
