Germany premiere: Stoag Stadtwerke Oberhausen GmbH has ordered 15 VDL Citea LF-122. Delivery is scheduled for December 2022. The electric buses are equipped with a 429 kWh battery pack. The minimum range of the vehicles is around 200 km. For intermediate charging, they have a pantograph on the roof.

New Citea fleet grows

Stoag currently operates six trams and 131 buses. On route 979 between Oberhausen and Bottrop, four electric Citea are already in service. Units of the new generation have already been sold to several countries and will be deployed this year in Eindhoven (NL), Kotka and Lahti (FIN), France (F) and parts of Flanders (BEL).

The vehicles feature, among other things, a lightweight sidewall construction with a 15% weight reduction compared to conventional materials and a battery pack installed as standard in the floor.

What does this mean?

Battery buses are making significant inroads in city centers - as is the VDL Citea, which is increasingly recording larger order packages in export markets.
