100 LNG trucks from Iveco: Gruber wants to make logistics greener

The commercial vehicle manufacturer Iveco and Gruber Logistics have signed a contract for the delivery of 100 vehicles powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). Delivery by the local dealer in Bolzano is to be completed by the end of the year. The decision to switch to vehicles with alternative drives is based, according to Gruber Logistics, on a “deeply rooted environmental awareness.” The goal is to achieve the climate targets set by the European Union. Another reason for the decision is the location of the headquarters near the Brenner Pass. Due to the tense environmental debate, the North Tyrolean Landtag has decided on drastic measures to limit the impact of pollution caused by heavy goods traffic over the Brenner Pass.

Almost climate-neutral with biomethane

From this perspective, the transport company considers the Iveco S-Way NP vehicles to be the logical choice. These heavy-duty trucks are ecologically and economically sustainable and deliver high performance. According to the manufacturer, NO2 emissions are reduced by up to 90 percent and particulate emissions by up to 95 percent. Furthermore, if the trucks are fueled with biomethane, CO₂ emissions are up to 95 percent lower than those of comparable diesel vehicles. Martin Gruber, Group CEO, explains:
